• Man: Menswear Spring/ Summer 2019

    4 monthes ago - By 10 magazine

Man oh man, we love a good Fashion East roundup mid fashion week to spice up our lives. It began with Stefan Cooke's ‘The Luxury of Boredom' and obvs we were anything but bored. Ostrich feathers came out flouncing from the waists of belted jeans and paillettes were placed strategically reflecting the light. A good beginning. Prints and patterns clashed on point and collars frilled. Cardigans looked so soft, sweetly unbuttoned at the top before chainmail vests toughened it all up, and on handbag straps tossed over shoulders, cross body style. FYI bags were printed on bags, which we loved...

Alex Mullins: Menswear Spring/ Summer 2019

When one watches a show so feel-good and ultimately perfect from start to end, one calls the designer up immediately. Alex Mullins is sick of the climate change in fashion, “Everyone's copying everyone and the only way to create original content is to dig your own path,” he told us. So dig it he did, 27 looks in a series of nine triptychs. It wasn't overthought, it was simply from the heart of Mullins' mind, thinking about exactly what he'd like to wear on holiday in what we're envisioning as a tropical paradise with some sick underground raves. Chic but vividly thrilling. “No more urban...

Kiko Kostadinov: Menswear Spring/ Summer 2019

    4 monthes ago - By 10 magazine

The sound of water, bubbling somewhere in the wilderness, covered in the abstract beats of drums and cymbals turning into a rave which transforms into an upbeat Indian melody. All so wildly mismatched and still, it all made complete sense. Kiko Kostadinov took inspiration from German artist Martin Kippenberger and his interpretation of Franz Kafka's unfinished novel Amerika , portraying a fictional utopia of universal employment, in order to create functional, visually captivating clothes. It was all about athleisure. But no, not the Paris Hilton circa 2002 Juicy Couture kind of...

Xander Zhou: Menswear Spring/ Summer 2019

    4 monthes ago - By 10 magazine

You know all those emails spamming your inbox in the past few weeks? The ones that warn you about all your personal information being used? The really annoying ones? Yes, those. Instead of rolling his eyes, Xander Zhou took the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation as a starting point for his Spring/ Summer 2019 collection. “I am digitized,” an android voice repeated over and over again, perfectly accompanying the cyborg-esque models aimlessly marching down the catwalk. This show was a message from the future. A future where men get pregnant, have six hands and wear...

    DANSHAN: Menswear Spring/ Summer 2019

    4 monthes ago - By 10 magazine

There's recently been lots of discussion on the topic of emotional men. After James Blake released his latest song Don't miss it, both the media and the audience rallied up and collectively decided to re-label him a “sad boy”. It only took Blake a hot minute to speak up and set the record straight: “I've always found that expression unhealthy and problematic when used to describe men just openly talking about their feelings.” Danxiu Liu and Shanpeng Wong, the duo behind portmanteau-named brand DANSHAN, obviously agree. For their Spring/ Summer 2019 collection they decided to focus on the...

    Cottweiler: Menswear Spring/ Summer 2019

    4 monthes ago - By 10 magazine

What does a Cottweiler guy pack for a yoga retreat? This seemed to be the question Ben Cottrell and Matthew Dainty had on their minds while designing the brand's Spring/ Summer 2019 collection. And no, the answer was not your classic LuluLemon shorts and a random t-shirt your mum gave you before you moved out. This guy is doing the downward dog and wearing a leather tracksuit, he's meditating in the lotus position while dressed in a crop top and a pair of see-through nylon joggers. What we'd usually consider the least appealing clothes of them all, the boys turned into something...

    Kent & Curwen: Menswear Spring/ Summer 2019

Who says that ravers and prepsters can't get along? Over an intimate lunch in Covent Garden, our favourite fashion entrepreneur/British Council ambassador/ footballer/ general babe David Beckham presented the Kent & Curwen Spring/ Summer 2019 collection, and showed what a harmonious collision of subcultures looks like. Suited in multicoloured stripes, booted in Wallabees and accessorised with patched up bucket hats, the K&C boys walked a show that exuded the joyful, carefree spirit of 1990's youth. Dancing in the sun, dressed in all the colours of the rainbow, the Kent & Curwen boys are...

    A-Cold-Wall: Menswear Spring/ Summer 2019

Samuel Ross is a man on a mission. A dangerous mission. He's on a show smoke induced high, one which required us to wear face masks, goggles and ear plugs for Spring/ Summer 2019. Yes it's been a good year for acoldwall , the cult menswear label was a finalist for the LVMH Prize, the 2018 ANDAM Prize and the International Woolmark Prize. Boom. Oh, and he's launching womenswear. Ross has got the drive and is gearing up for world domination. This was Human. Form. Structure. A larger than life fan zoomed on, ready to blow us away. A group of matching military style men painted grey, head to...
