San Francisco Symphony and Opera Galas Kick Off Cultural Season

San Francisco music lovers of a social persuasion decades ago dubbed the first week of September “Hell Week” because San Francisco Symphony and San Francisco Opera traditionally launch their fall seasons in the same week with 5 p.m. black-tie galas.
Hellish or not, the crème de la crème of symphony fans who, until last week were lolling about in the Greek Islands, sunning on Capri or tripping out at Burning Man, turned up last Wednesday in full gala regalia.
